And What a Craptacular Week It Has Been, too!

So this has been, I think, one of the finer weeks so far this year . . .

. . . if you enjoy living in Hell. First, there was the illness fun on Monday (I'll spare you the details), then the weather was muggy and stale, then a former Nazi became the next pope of the Holy Roman Craptholic Church and promptly announced that committed same-sex couples were "iniquitous" (by definition, "evil; corrupt; wicked"), and the Amerikan Taleban made more progress on their construction of an oppressive, puri-tyrannical Orwellian government.

Texas decided to add redundancy to its already burgeoning stupidity and bigoted rancor by passing a state constitutional ammendment intitiative to ban same-sex marriage, as well as declaring that GLBT's are unfit parents even for "throwaway" kids whose only other option is an orphanage, with a state law prohibiting GLBT's from adopting or foster-parenting.

Then longtime GLBT supporter Microsoft stabbing the Washington State GLBT community in the back after being a close ally for the past decade-plus, really topped things off nicely.

Yes kids, the fallout and backlash from the last election is upon us and gaining momentum. But don't worry, if your genetics happen to make you heterosexual, you have nothing to fear; it's only those of us whose genes make us fall in love with our own sex that are fucked in this Brave New World of the United Theocratic-cum-Corporate- Special-Interest States of America where a 150 foot green lady in Nike sandals, waving a GE torch while holding an HP Tablet PC running Microsoft Windows welcomes newcomers between gulps of her Starbucks Frappuccino:
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to be free,
Cuz I could use a good fuck right about now."

If you're gay, look around you and you will see more and more of our allies and once staunch supporters have fallen to the wayside, "crossed the line to find the money's on the other side," if you will. The Democratic party has become a weak, impotent, and ineffectual group of pisants, kowtowing to the Republican extremists at almost every bend while ignoring huge opportunities to damage, daresay, destroy the careers of some of the most vitriolic and corrupt members of the GOP. Instead, they sit by wringing their collective hands, shocked and awed by the simple majority (51%) the Repugnant Party holds over this nation. Why have the progressive, intelligent political minds of this country gone all lobotomy on us? Why have they fallen silent while the most bigoted, narrow-minded, hate-filled people dictate public policy in the name of antiquated and selectively referenced scripture with religious fervor? Why have they abandoned us?

I am reminded of W. B. Yeats' poem, The Second Coming:

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all convictions, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
(Bold emphasis is mine)

Well You're not Wrong, this was a suckass week, and things are quickly sliding into the abyss. Anyway, just a nod to agree with you. Plus, very Judyesque posting...I like that...

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST

Tim's flight went smoothly and he is now in Arkansas. My day feels hollow without being able to IM him. Still no word on exactly when he'll be back--either Friday night or Saturday morning/afternoon. Oh, and add that supreme bitch, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) to the list of modern-era senators refusing to cosponser the anti-lynching measure. I have also added her to my litany of reasons for truly despising this fucktard state in which I live. MEMO TO THE GOP: Your true (lack of) colors are showing. Smarmy sanctimonious bastards.

Lynching Senators UPDATE

Hutchison has finally done the honorable thing and signed on as a cosponser to the anti-lynching bill. Let's see what Cornyn does. I take back what I said about Senator Hutchison, she is not a supreme bitch . . . . . . just a regular one.
