Aha! A New Nine Inch Nails Video . . .

OK, I know I complained about the blog videos in the past, but I got curious and clicked over to check out the website that hosts them . . . you know, to see what was there. Well, I came across the new Nine Inch Nails video for the song "Only." After watching it, I decided I had to share it with everyone because it reminded me of a music video from the '80s by Aha (sp.?). You know the one I'm talking about--unless you're too young to have seen it, let alone remember it.--it was "Take on Me." Obviously the music and sentiment share nothing in common, but the style and medium of the video have an interesting parallel. Both depict being trapped in an alternate plain of existence visible to and of physical reality, but seperated and sharply divided from it--the inner fantasy world juxtaposed and competing with reality.

Anyway, enjoy!

Here I was, all excited cuz there were five comments, and they were all Megan and the voices within her head . . .

. . . and they weren't even talking about the content of the post beacuse they couldn't get past the simple fact that there was a video.

. . . and something about taking over the world and clown bitches.

*shakes head in shame and disbelief*

Its too bad that you don't have the option to just have the video load, but you choose to play it or not, just because it seems I am hitting my browsers stop button more and more these days. Not that I am complaining, but I wonder why they have to auto start? Anyway, fun times...

I tried to rewrite the code to keep it from autostarting, but to no avail. Apparently, the autorun is part of the offsite-program to which the code links.

*sigh*

Oh well. Last time I use a video on my blog.

You can use a video whenever you want, I was just wondering about the whole auto start thing...

um... RUDE, Dr. Spectre... however, I will be more cautious of my remarks on your posts, if you find them so shameful and disbelieving...

I don't know much about NIN, or the A-ha video, but I think the video is pretty fun and funky... the autoplay function doesn't bother me so much since i plug my earphones into my computer and don't think about the sounds it's making unless i put the headphones on...

Boo bye now!

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST

Tim's flight went smoothly and he is now in Arkansas. My day feels hollow without being able to IM him. Still no word on exactly when he'll be back--either Friday night or Saturday morning/afternoon. Oh, and add that supreme bitch, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) to the list of modern-era senators refusing to cosponser the anti-lynching measure. I have also added her to my litany of reasons for truly despising this fucktard state in which I live. MEMO TO THE GOP: Your true (lack of) colors are showing. Smarmy sanctimonious bastards.

On "Political Differences"

I had some thoughts on this interesting article and was gonna thread them on my Twitter timeline, but I have too much to say on the matter, so I decided to dig out and dust off my old blog and post them here. Here's the thing about explicitly disliking a "political other" that the media doesn't want to cop to: There is actually clearly a right and wrong side at this point in history. Once upon a time, the differences in the Democratic and the Republican parties were simply regional and political stances on tax policy and fiscal spending and a myriad of other procedural thingamabobs. Precisely because both parties were inherently and inexorably racist, misogynistic, and LGBTQ-phobic because America  was vastly racist, misogynistic, and LGBTQ-phobic. Some might argue that it still is. And they're right. It is. But it used to be FAR, FAR worse and much more banally violent about it, too. POC, women, and LGBTQ people were freely beaten and murdered, with little
